:: why trust us ::

There is a lot of stuff being said about recruiters all over the web, most of it telling you to stay away from them. We actually agree with most of that but urge you to give us a chance to show that we're the exception that confirms the rule.

As a recruiter, we give you the opportunity to get a first hand look at the schools before you commit to a contract. We feel that everyone should do that and never put their fate in the hands of one school before knowing everything. We also encourage our teachers to get a tourist visa instead of a work visa before coming to China so that they're not stuck somewhere they do not want to be. Get the work visa AFTER you're satisfied with your arangements and you've inspected your living quarters and made sure that the school will deliver on their promises. If you go ahead and come with a work visa, the school has no incentive to get their act straight and get thigs done. They know that you cannot move easily. On the other hand, with us backing you up, you can pressure the school and we can do the same until they deliver the goods or we will pull you out and find you another placement.

This email exchange happened recently between Michael for our office and two teachers based in Sichuan province; This hopefully shows that we will not just abandon you once we collect our fee. emails were blacked out to prevent spam.

Thank you Michael for the compliment.  Sarah and I were very grateful for your help, and the social contact with the people in the Office when we arrived in China in July.  I will definately be in touch in the future.  I realise how important it is to have a contact especially when there are problems or misunderstandings with employees.  Is Tom still there?  If so hello from us !!
Sarah and I are looking forward to the Xmas Party and the time with the Children that we teach.  We have reorganised to see our friends in Mia on the New Year weekend.  I phoned Sally to tell her we will be away on this particular weekend.
Also, I had an email from a lady called Casey Sciaraffo asking me for information on teaching in China.  Her email is (removed email) Maybe you could contact her and tell her that I have passed her email address on to you.

Stay in touch     -

Hi Michael   -   This is Marie Jenkins.    I have just spoken to Sally to tell her that we have changed our Xmas plans and will attend the school Xmas party.  Sarah and I do not want extra time off for this.
I also told Sally that we must talk about the return airfare home.  We only want the cost of the tickets.  Have you been able to find out how much they will be?  It is difficult for me to make these inquiries as I cannot speak Chinese.
thanks Michael

Hi Sarah and Marie,

We have contact with your school, and there must some misunderstanding about each other. And the school will definitely buy you air ticket back for both of you, and we have confirm that with the school through telephone just now. They will offer 4000RMB for one way air ticket for each of you, and that may enough for your one way air ticket back to Australia.

And also they hope that you can attend the activity of the school at Christmas, to be frank that from my point the school inform you the Christmas party 15-20 day before is not so late, and that the school is a private school and the party at Christmas is very important for them, there will be some parents of the students attend also, and at the party the school and your students will also send you many gifts with the best wishes for the next year, so would you make some small change at you plan of travel, and we can ask school give you some days off if you can not come back in time due to this amendment.

Please kindly let me know your comment.
Waiting for your reply,

Hi Michael

This is Sarah and Marie Jenkins.  It seems that at the moment we are having some problems.  Today I went to the Cambridge English School Office to ask Sally if at the end of our Contract on the 15th January we could be paid our return airfares of A$1,200 each in Australian Dollars.  She said that we would only get 1,100 yuan.

When Sarah and I signed our contract we asked for 1,100 yuan  and an air ticket to return to Melbourne at the end of our contract.  Sally asked me how much and I said about $1,200  -  I said I was not sure and that she could check.  She answered that she would pay that amount.

We have had a hard time here but have both been determined to see out the contract.  To this date we still do not have a health certificate or a Certificate of residency despite having ask many many times.  Sally takes our passports and just keeps them for several weeks.  When we ask for them back we still do not get a  Residency Certificate.  I believe that we are in China illegally.  We actually had expired visas for about a month when we arrived.  Could not get Sally to renew them.

We are also having probems because I told Sally today that we would be out of town for the Xmas weekend.  It seems that the Xmas party is on Xmas night but nobody told us.  We now have plans that we cannot cancel.  We love the children and want to share some Xmas Spirit with them but we always have weekends off.  We offered to be involved in the Xmas party but nobody has said a word to us!!!!  We assumed it would be sometime before Xmas.

We are feeling quite uncomfortable and not sure what to do.  Can Mr Dow help us with this problem.

Hoping to hear from you soon.
